The Camaro Firebird Owners Club of Australia Inc. thrives on the active participation and dedication of its members. Our success as a vibrant community of Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird enthusiasts is built on the strong involvement of our members.
As we approach our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 4 September 2024, which will be held after the Monthly Club Meeting, we encourage everyone to consider the Committee positions and responsibilities listed below. If you have the skills and experience to take on any of these roles, please step forward and contribute by taking an active role in the committee of our innovative club. These positions require just a few hours monthly, but they are crucial in ensuring the club continually improves and provides valuable benefits for all our members.
Your participation and involvement in the committee will help us maintain the welcoming environment we’ve built for families and individuals who share a passion for these iconic American muscle cars.

President | Chairs meetings and serves as the main contact for the club at public events and in communications. Ensures suggestions and ideas are reviewed and assessed by the Committee and presents the results to Members for decision. Ensures all committee duties are carried out. Places a casting vote in case of a tie with committee elections. Always acts in the best interest of the club and its members. Provides a President Report to the Editor for the bi-monthly club magazine. Attendance is preferred for monthly club meetings and club events. |
Vice-President | Supports the President in managing the club. Assists other committee members as needed. Chairs meetings and represents the President at events in his absence. Attendance is preferred for monthly club meetings and club events. |
Secretary | Takes minutes at club meetings and submits them to the Editor for publication in the bi-monthly club magazine. Circulates information to members by club news email, and answers club activity enquiries. Manages the current membership database in collaboration with the Treasurer. Onboards new members. Attendance is preferred for monthly club meetings and club events. |
Treasurer | Manages the club’s finances, including handling all incoming and outgoing funds, and ensures timely, accurate record-keeping. Maintains the current membership database in collaboration with the Secretary. Reviews the club books at the end of the financial year and submits report for bi-monthly club magazine prior to AGM. Ensures all payment requests are approved by two committee members. Provides a Treasurer Report to the Editor for the bi-monthly club magazine. Attendance is preferred for monthly club meetings and club events. |
Club Plates Registrar | Handles enquiries related to Historic and Classic Vehicle Registration, and processes registration applications, maintaining records of all related documents and photos. Maintains relationships with the Council of Motor Clubs NSW and communicates updates to Members. Provides a Club Plates Registrar Report to the Editor for the bi-monthly club magazine. Attendance is preferred for monthly club meetings and club events. |
Sponsorship Coordinator | Seeks and secures sponsorship agreements with service providers for advertising in bi-monthly club magazine, and where possible, the provision of information, services or benefits for members, with product and service providers relevant to our Camaro and Firebird owners. Maintains a register of sponsors and collaborates with the Treasurer for oversight of invoicing and assist with confirming funds receipt. Provides Committee with suggested enhancements or details of new participants to the program. Provides an update on annual program and additional information, services and benefits available for members. Ensures financial sponsors are included in bi-monthly magazines, acknowledged on Facebook and in News Emails, bi-monthly and uploaded to club website. |
Events Coordinator | Organises and coordinates Monthly Club Runs, incorporating a variety of destinations and routes, and leads members on these runs. Encourages members to support and contribute Monthly Run Reports for bi-monthly club magazine. Considers and integrates member suggestions when planning events. Produces the events calendar for the bi-monthly club magazine, provide an update at club meeting, promote individual events on Facebook and upload to club website. Attendance is preferred for monthly club meetings and club events. |
Editor (Magazine) | Collects magazine reports from Committee members and creates draft bi-monthly editions. Ensures the magazine is drafted professionally with interesting and varying content and submit to Committee for approval. Ensures sufficient magazine copies are printed and delivered before the next Club meeting and made available for Secretary’s postage. |
Editor (Website) | Monitors website activity ensuring environment is safe and platform updates are current and effective. Assists other Committee members with ensuring all relevant content is up to date. Looks to provide Committee and members with information about website statistics. Ensures website is inviting and informative, utilising new and innovative ideas for displaying information. Looks to implement a member only portal and document storage facility. |
Other Non-Committee Positions | CMC Representative Attends bi-monthly Council of Motor Clubs General Meetings and reports updates to members at club meetings and in the bi-monthly club magazine. GM Representative Attends up to six GM Display Day Committee Meetings a year and reports on upcoming events to members through club meetings and the bi-monthly club magazine. Public Officer The contact person for government-related matters and responsible for lodging documents with NSW Fair Trading. Facebook Manager Monitors participation of club Facebook members and updates page with club activities, excluding events as managed by the Events Coordinator and sponsor acknowledgments as managed by the Sponsorship Coordinator. |
